Anyway, everything is really good this side and I have been working with some incredibly talented artists of late which has made it easy for me to gather inspiration. I will be updating this site soon with some new photos as soon as I get a chance.

The reason for this update is because I had an interview with the really amazing people over at Killer about my photography, working with musicians, life in general and London. I like how it came out so if you have a chance please check it out HERE.

I’ve worked with the guys from We Are The Ocean a few times and it’s always been a pleasure. This time the guys got me in to join them for a few days in studio while they recorded some new material and I photographed some behind the scenes (fly on the wall) shots of their time working as well as a few portrait shots that they would use to promote the new tracks.

The video above is just a quick edit of some footage during our time together including some swimming and bridge jumping into the Thames River.

The new stuff is amazing and definitely worth checking out so make sure to give the boys a good listen to.

I worked with the guys from Delica Black and shot some new promo photos for them in and around Crystal Palace Park. The weather seemed really crappy when we first arrived and I thought we would be spending the time shooting in the rain but it stopped and we were lucky to shoot with some really dramatic cloudy sky in an awesome location.

The guys are super nice and it was really good working with them. One of those shoots that don’t really feel like work but rather a good time just hanging out. The only give away for me is the heavy gear that I have to lug around.

Anyway, the guys have just released an EP which is available on iTunes and I think it’s definitely worth giving a listen to and it’s made me excited for the guys live set.

I was assisted by Robin and Maya on this shoot and we filmed a few short clips with my Lumix “Happy Snapper” again which I have quickly snapped together. The sound in the beginning isn’t the greatest and the buzzing sound in the background was thanks to some guy and his remote control car that he was doing donuts with.

Ashley Hoy and Guy Brackenbury of the band The Glass Empire have made a few line up changes and started a fresh as a new band called Adelphia of Kings and the change definitely seems for the positive.

I worked with Ashley and Guy a few times before already on shoots so they booked me to travel down and shoot with them in their home on the Isle of Wight which was a super cool experience. We made our way to a few locations that they had in mind and some of them came with difficulties but we made a plan and the day was a good one.

We were shouted at by security, stared down by rams, flirted with by miss bo peep and taught how to rally drive by Guy himself.

The guys are working on their new MySpace now so I will post the link to that as soon as it goes live as well as post a link to the rest of the photo set when that goes up.

For now here is a short video of the day filmed with my wife’s Lumix “Happy Snapper” and I suck at editing so excuse it.

I have worked with the guys from Starseed a few times now and they need some new promo shots taken for their up coming tour so we met on a proper freezing night at a piss laden tunnel and had a party.

Thanks to my buddy Brendan for filming this for me. I suck at editing and also don’t have the time to work on it for too long so this is my “slap” together of the footage that I have from the time. The quality sucks so excuse me. Haha.

In June 2009 the guys from Pocket TV did a documentary with Papa Roach on tour and they filmed me while I photographed portraits of the guys in the rain. A lot of my friends (and bands I work with) really look up to these guys so I felt like I had a lot of pressure on me but I was also super excited.

The guys were really cool and really down to earth and a pleasure to shoot. I really hope that I get to work with these guys again soon.

This video is not mine and I did not make it but I feature in it a few times (shooting portraits and their live set).

I traveled to South Africa for a few shoots at the end of 2009 and one of them included working with the amazing guys of Zebra and Giraffe. I have worked with these guys a few times since they started their project together and it’s always a pleasure.

The concept was purely to get the guys in the water at my parents vacation house and shoot with them up close to make sure that they look powerful but “cool”. I shot with my Nikon D3, Nikon F90x on 35mm and my beautiful Yashica 124g on 120 film. It’s been an absolute nightmare with the 120 as Jessops sent them away to the Prolab and completely messed up the scans (after 5 weeks) and have now taken them back to rescan so I haven’t got them back yet but the Digital and 35mm are done and came out quite rad.

This video was filmed and edited by their guitarist, Alan Shenton, on his iPhone 3GS which is amazing. Technology really is great.

At the end of 2008 I worked with Zebra and Giraffe on their music video for their single at the time which was Oxymoron. One of the member, Alan Shenton, also runs a video company (www.melonvideos.co.za) and the two of us came up with a stupid idea of shooting the video on a Nikon D3 as stills so that we could create a “higher than Full HD” resolution video that would be “jumpy” to suit the style of the single. At the time we tried to do a bunch of research but we hadn’t seen any one else doing this so we didn’t have much to work with which made us run a lot of tests to see if it was possible. We eventually came up with something that we thought worked so we began planning a full day that worked for everyone involved to shoot everything.

The video was photographed by myself at 5 and 10 frames per second using the Nikon D3 DSLR and then the 39 000+ photographs were narrowed down and about 15 000 of these were individually graded and then edited at Melon Videos. I need to also point out that the Nikon D3 at the time could only shoot sequences up to 130 frames at a time so it forced us to log after each 13 seconds of footage. As you can imagine it was a nightmare syncing all the footage but we feel we got it right.

This was one of my most exciting projects to work on because of the people that I worked with. It was hard and I don’t think I would do something like this again in a hurry with no budget. Since this Nikon has launched the D3s which can film in HD and it would have been fun to explore that at the same time. Possibly another project in the near future?!

When watching this PLEASE MAKE SURE to watch it in as high resolution as you can as YouTube compresses the video for speed and you wont get the best quality experience.
